Who can become a NIDOS member?
NIDOS membership is open to organisations that are Scottish or have a base in Scotland and who are involved in international development. Membership categories and subscription fees are dependent on an organisation's annual income and charitable status.
Membership categories
Full membership
Full Membership is open to any voluntary organisations meeting the following criteria:
- they are not-for-profit organisations in Scotland and/or in England and Wales and;
- they are either Scottish organisations, or have a base in Scotland
- their only objective, or one of their primary objectives, is international development
- their main objects are compatible with NIDOS' Charitable Purposes (see page 1 of application form)
Associate membership
Associate membership is open to:
- Voluntary organisations which meet the criteria for full membership, but for whom international development is only part of their overall objectives
- Non-voluntary organisations (including consultancies and academic departments) which are involved in international development and who support NIDOS' Charitable Purposes
- Associate Members are not entitled to vote at meetings, but otherwise have all the rights and privileges of full membership.
(UK international development organisations that do not have a base in Scotland may wish to consider joining Bond instead.)
Membership Application
Annual fees for NIDOS membership fall into one of five main categories, dependent on an organisation's total annual income and charitable status.
To apply for membership of NIDOS an organisation should complete an application form and submit a copy of their latest annual report and accounts. The application will then be considered by the NIDOS Board of Trustees which meets quarterly. Once an application is accepted the applicant organisation will become a member of the network on payment of their annual membership fee. Organisations joining part way through the subscription year (April - March) will pay the pro-rata proportion of the annual fee.
You may submit your application form and annual report & accounts by email to info@nidos.org.uk (preferable) or in hard copy to:
