Groups

NIDOS Groups allow member organisations to discuss issues, policies or geographic regions of common interest. Led and managed by member organisations, NIDOS Groups undertake a range of activities including informal discussions, training sessions, guest presentations and formal responses to consultations and policy developments. Please contact us if you are a NIDOS member and would like to join a group - check our events page for any upcoming meetings.

Good Practice Working Group

Following NIDOS' good practice event in November 2009, the network established a working group focused on good practice in international development. Meetings of this group will lead the participative development of a Good Practice Principles and Self-Assessment tool for use by NIDOS members. For details of NIDOS' work on good practice, including the development of the self-assessment tool see our timeline.

Asia Group

The purpose of the Group is to provide a forum where organisations involved in international development work in Asia can exchange information and share resources, collaborate on joint pieces of work, and coordinate their relationships with the Scottish Executive, UK Government and other relevant institutions.

International Volunteering Group

NIDOS' International Volunteering Group seeks to improve communication and co-ordination amongst volunteer sending agencies with a base in Scotland. The group initially met in May 2006, with activities to date including the drafting of a directory of international volunteering agencies with a base in Scotland (VolDir.pdf), and work on an auditable Code of Practice for the international volunteering sector.

Small NGOs Group

Formed in March 2007, NIDOS' Small NGOs Group allows organisations with limited staff and resources to learn from each other through themed discussions, and to explore ways in which they can work together on joint projects.

Funding Group

This fledgling Group first met in November 2007, and will be used by Scottish NGOs to discuss funding and fundraising within the international development sector.
