Scottish Government Strategy and Funding Information Day
City of Edinburgh Methodist Church, 25 Nicolson Square, Edinburgh, EH8 9BX
Register now REGISTRATION FOR THIS EVENT IS NOW CLOSED.
The Scottish Government's new International Development Strategy was publicly launched on 21 December 2016. The Scottish Government International Development team is now offering all members of NIDOS the opportunity to hear a presentation on the Strategy and to ask questions.
Dr Alasdair Allan MSP, Minister for International Development & Europe, will introduce this session and stay on to meet informally with participants at the mid-morning break.
Event Two: Zambia and Rwanda Grants Session (11:15 - 13:00)
The Scottish Government main funding round for Zambia and Rwanda will open on 9 March. The criteria and concept note form will be published on Lloyds TSB Foundation website, as well as NIDOS and the Scottish Government's websites, on 9 March.
If you are considering applying to the fund, please sign up for both this and the International Development Strategy session above. Applicants to the main grants fund will be asked to demonstrate how their project fits within the International Development Strategy, so the presentation on the Strategy will be helpful to them.
As noted in the Scottish Government’s International Development Strategy, to maximise impact there will be a focus on specific regions in Zambia. Following discussions with the Government of Zambia, for this funding round applications will be invited only for projects within Central Province, Zambia. Similarly to maximise impact and following discussions with the Government of Rwanda for this funding round applications will be invited only for projects within the two poorest provinces of Rwanda, which are Western and Southern Provinces. More details about funding criteria will be given when the new round is launched on 9 March.
Event Three: NIDOS General Meeting (13:00 - 13:30)
Following the adoption of our new strategy at our AGM last September, and the agreement on the new name, we now need Special Resolutions to adopt the new Articles, changed to reflect the changes to membership categories and to the name of the organisation.
Formal calling papers, an agenda giving exact timing and a link to the new Articles, have been circulated to all NIDOS members by email. For more information and key documents, please click here.
Please also note that for members wishing to attend the first Scottish Government session but not the second, but who would like to attend our General Meeting at 1300, there is a mid-morning gap. The City of Edinburgh Methodist Church tell us that attendees with that gap to fill, are very welcome to stay in the building and use the facilities including the café and guest wifi. We hope that this will allow members to catch up on emails and make good use of time if they wish to attend the first and third events of the day.
