Scotland's Buddhist Vihara

Scotland's Buddhist Vihara

Description

The main object of this charity is to provide assistance to all humanity. Starting with the local community promoting their mental and physical wellbeing through provision of counselling, stress therapy, educational and cultural programmes, meditation and relaxation techniques. There is also a limited informal library of religious texts available. Internationally, we have started, and continue to manage, projects to rehabilitate Sri Lankan victims of the tsunami. We are providing humanitarian aid such as medicine, food and water and clothes. There is a mobile counselling service for victims of the Tsunami. We have also set up and continue to provide a self-employment scheme to assist widowed mothers who have no work or income. We are also running a scholarship programme for needy students. We have project proposals to set up an orphanage for the children orphaned by the tsunami. In general the organisation is interested in the health and wellbeing of all creatures, human and animal.
