Deaf Action

Deaf Action

Description

Deaf Action is a long established charity (1835) managed by a Deaf-led elected Executive Council, which works together with deaf people to raise awareness of the needs and rights of people who are deaf, challenges discrimination and provides services to promote independence and quality of life amongst deaf people.

We have, over the years, worked closely with colleagues from a number of overseas countries in the provision of training and support in the areas of sign language teaching, interpreter training and awareness raising, and have a live involvement in European and international deaf related organisations. Deaf Action is also providing secretarial and administrative support to the World Association of Sign Language Interpreters, through its Director who is the current President.
