Royal Society of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce

Description
The RSA is a Fellowship based think-tank with 25,000 Fellows world wide including the chapters in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and, recently created, India. Other chapters, such as Brussels, are in their early stages. Criteria for election include status and professional discipline, a commitment to social justice and societal change, a commitment to global citizenship and global responsibility. Fellows are expected to be people who network well, are open minded and celebrate intellectual challenge and debate, and who are committed to improving society. Interest in NIDOS is very particular to the RSA's water and sanitation project in India. The Fellowship includes a variety of people involved in sustainability challenges in the UK but also, more importantly, extensively overseas.
The RSA exists to encourage the development of a principled, prosperous society. It does this through a programme of London based projects and events, supported by lectures and events across its various regional chapters within the UK. Its Fellowship represents a network of Fellows from almost every discipline and background. The RSA in Scotland hopes to link some of its 2006/07 events to themes of relevance to sustainability and global citizenship.
